January brings fresh and white snow Which everyone likes, you know February, the month of Cupid’s flight Where everyone feels more loose than tight March is the month of growth and bloom Coming without a trace of gloom April, the month where pranks are played Especially on April fool’s day May is for sunshine, fun and laugh A perfect time to visit the giraffe June is when the holidays start Leaving plenty of time for activities like art July is when you can jump into the pool Which feels colder than ice, nice and cool August, the cool and mighty wind blows Which trickles a chill beneath your clothes September, children fill hallways with groans And remain still and as hard as stones October, the nights fill spooky howls Some say they are filled with clusters of owls November, winter has begun to show its chill Bringing children a thrill December, you curl up in your house A new year approaches as quite as a mouse Part 1 : Going in
Leaves shuffle slightly Birds trill from branches up high wind rustles the air Roads disappearing Trees seem to grow even taller A touch of green A faint whiff of pine A strong scent of leaves and grass Outlines with freshness Part 2 : Labyrinth Step front, step front , step One foot in front of the other Winding path ahead Our Special place First spot I've been in the woods Just footsteps away Middle of forest Trees are like tall skyscrapers A color of earth Part 3 : Rendezvous with Nature There she stands so tall Limbs reaching for the vast sky Swaying in the breeze Spectrum of beauty So delicate but pretty Like gazing at stars Birds chirping up high Little shuffles here and there Nature's symbol: Growth Sun beating the ground Glazing like a wave of heat Yet the stony run flows Part 4: Separation A tear seems to fall The time has come to go back Heart drops heavier Farther and Farther Almost want to go right back Coming back again Running far away Everything; a blur of green Greenbriers scratching Part 5: Memories Nothing but plain awe Beautiful, Peaceful, Quite Unexplainable Standing last in line Enjoying the many views Simply savoring Light through the branches Cheerful laughter echoes Clover scents arise Squirrels scurry up Jumping from branches to branch Acorn falls down Suddenly, I see Laying right in front, hissing A long ribbon snake Cannot believe nature Different personalities Brilliant yet cruel A southern red oak Stout, but reaching higher than most Mysterious Summer
Sun’s harsh gaze , burning Withering, blistering heat Finding shade, pleasing Autumn Trees changing color Leaves falling on to the ground Swaying in the breeze Spring Wildlife awakens Drizzles, sunshine, calming breeze Earth starting afresh Winter Flakes falling softly Freezing, icy, slippery Trees standing still and bare Poem above is written in Haiku Style by Ananya Raghu Where am I?
I really do not know, maybe in a different world. Am I a brave warrior or a princess battling for blood? Am I a wizard or a dragon seeking help? No! I am a girl seeking refuge in her books, I realize As I come into the real world with a jolt. As I go back to reading Stop! I watch as the castle explodes I can see everything, every word makes a picture in my head Almost like a movie I close the book My world disappears Amazing! Leaping, jumping, twirling
I can feel my body straining to keep in beat The music is fast and melodious Cool air meet my limbs, As I move from here to there My feet hit the wooden floor Making a creaking noise Hands are making delicate movements Satisfying, but tiring I can feel the beat Making my heart thump, my lungs laugh I feel light headed, my energy depleted But it was worth it My stress is gone And Strength replaced. |
