Can you imagine someone climbing an active volcano even though it could erupt any time with its toxic fumes, burning lava and rumbling? To share the experience I will tell you all about this remarkable, life threatening journey.
This volcanic mountain is Mount St Helens. The peaceful looking ordinary mountain, but really its inner side is beyond deadly. It erupted in 1980 which was only 34 years ago was leaving a huge scar among the landscape which included burnt trees, no animals, jagged rocks and no water sources. To reach the foot of the mountain my dad and I walked five miles. The trek was exhausting and the fact that my dad had to pause like every five seconds to take a picture really didn’t help. Finally, we stopped for a break at Spirit Lake which had such a freaky story that I stumbled and successfully twisted my foot. The freaky story was about an old man who did not evacuate and died when Mount St Helens erupted. Luckily I convinced my dad that there was no need to continue on another four hours hike to the peak of the mountain. As I returned back with wonderful and unwanted memories, I realized, I had a good time after all. Now you can see clearly that this place is amazing because of Spirit Lake, a volcano that could erupt anytime, and its scarred landscape.
